President’s Perspective: May 2026

By Chris Delfs, NWIA President
Broker, Keller Williams Siouxland & Keller Williams Okoboji

This month is all about member involvement. We’re fortunate to have members of our association engaged in great work within the real estate community and local politics. Involvement is a critical part of being a REALTOR®, and this month we have wonderful news to share about members doing just that. I had the opportunity to interview each of these members over the past month—be sure to check out the video footage on the board’s Facebook page.

Jason Geary, REALTOR® at C21 ProLink, was unanimously recommended and subsequently approved by the Governor to serve as a licensee on the Iowa Real Estate Commission. He holds one of five seats on the commission and will bring his time and talents to the role, offering valuable perspective at the state level. See my interview with Jason here.

Haley Markle, Broker/Owner with Coldwell Banker ABR, is running for Union County Commissioner. In her interview, she shared her vision for the role and what she hopes to accomplish. Her real estate and business experience will add value as she works to help guide the county. We wish her well in her campaign—learn more on her campaign website.

Brad Sanderson with EXIT Realty Midwest is running for Second Vice President of the State Association. Brad has been involved in leadership for years and is now bringing his time and talents to a new role at the state level. As a Northwest Iowa REALTOR®, Brad has been dedicated to serving not only his clients, but also his fellow REALTORS®. He is no stranger to state leadership, currently serving as State Treasurer. We wish Brad the best in his quest. My interview with Brad is available here.

If you know of REALTORS® in our Board making an impact in our field and in the community, please let us know. It’s important that we share how we get involved and contribute our talents. As you see the REALTORS® mentioned above, be sure to thank them for their involvement and for paving the way for others to step up and make a difference.

Finally, if you’re interested in getting more involved, I’d love to connect—reach out to learn how you can become more engaged and create a positive impact on our profession and in our communities.
